The Real Jewels in Life (Proverbs 20:15)

đź’Ž In this episode of From Wrong to Strong, Omar shares a powerful devotional on what it truly means to value godly wisdom.

We live in a world that chases gold, success, and status — but the Bible reminds us that real treasure isn’t what shines, it’s what’s spoken. Proverbs 20:15 says, “Gold there is, and rubies in abundance, but lips that speak knowledge are a rare jewel.”

Omar opens up about how God uses the wisdom of his wife, Ann, to bring clarity, peace, and direction — and highlights the women of Scripture like Deborah, Abigail, Esther, and Priscilla, who were led by the Spirit to speak truth that changed lives.

🔥 This short devotional will remind you that the rarest jewels aren’t found in the ground — they’re found in hearts connected to God.

🎧 Listen now and be encouraged to thank God for the “rare jewels” He’s placed in your life — and to be one for someone else.

Hello family. This is Omar Calvillo with From Wrong to Strong Ministries. Coming to you with another two minute devotional. You know, in life we often chase after the things that sparkle success, money, possessions. But Proverbs reminds us that the real treasure isn't found in what shines it's found and what's spoken. Proverbs 20:15 says,"Gold there is and rubies in abundance, but lips that speak knowledge are a rare jewel." I don't know about you, but I thank God for the jewels he places in our lives. People who speak truth, encouragement, and Godly wisdom, right when we need it. For me, one of those jewels is my wife, Ann. Time and time again, I've seen how God gives her words of insight that bring clarity, peace, and direction. The Bible is full of examples of women. God used to speak wisdom, discernment, and life. Take Deborah for example, a prophetess, and a judge who led Israel with boldness and understanding. God gave her discernment to lead when others hesitated. Her wisdom wasn't about control. It was about courage and obedience. Then there's Abigail in one Samuel chapter 25 when her husband's foolish actions nearly cause bloodshed. Abigail stepped in with humility and wisdom. She didn't just speak to calm David's anger. She spoke words that aligned with God's will. Her insight turned a potential disaster into peace, and we can't forget Esther. She didn't rush to speak or act. She prayed, fasted and waited for God's timing. When she finally spoke, her words carried divine weight. Through her discernment an entire nation was saved. Even in the New Testament, we see women like Priscilla, who alongside her husband Aquila, helped teach Apollos, a powerful preacher more accurately about the ways of God. Or Anna, the prophetess, who recognized Jesus as the Messiah when others missed it. These women weren't just wise, they were spirit led. They show us that wisdom isn't about age, status, gender. It's about walking closely with God and allowing his spirit to guide your words. When I think about Proverbs 20, verse 15. I can't help but think of my wife. She has often spoken words that shifted my perspective, brought me back into alignment with God's truth, or helped me slow down and pray instead of reacting. God uses her just like he used Deborah, Abigail, Esther, and Priscilla to bring balance and spiritual clarity into our home and ministry. She's a reminder that when someone speaks with Godly wisdom, It's not just human advice, it's heaven's voice, speaking through love. So here's the question. Who are the rare jewels God has placed in your life? Who are the people, men, women that God uses to speak wisdom, correction, or encouragement into your situation? Take a moment today to thank God for them. And if you're that person, someone who speaks life into others, remember? Your words are precious. Don't underestimate the power of godly wisdom flowing through you. James 3:17 says, but the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all, pure, then peace loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit. Impartial and sincere. That's the kind of wisdom this world needs more of. So today, let's value the true jewels, not gold, not rubies, but the words that come from a heart connected to God. If you've been blessed by someone who speaks life and truth into you, tell them, honor them. And if God has placed that voice of wisdom in you, keep letting him use it because someone out there needs to hear what he's given you to say. My name is Omar Calvillo and I AM Wrong to strong.
